Kemudian dapat terjadi pembiakan di sistem retikuloendothelial dan menyebar kembali ke pembuluh darah yang kemudian menimbulkan berbagai gejala klinis.

Dalam masyarakat penyakit ini dikenal dengan nama Tipes atau thypus, tetapi dalam dunia kedokteran disebut TYPHOID FEVER atau Thypus abdominalis, karena berhubungan dengan usus pada perut.

Untuk mengetahui penyakit tersebut lakukan pemeriksaan laboratorium seperti :
-Terjadinya penurunan sel darah putih
-Anemia rendah karena pendarahan pada usus
-Trombosit menurun
-Menemukan bakteri salmonella typhosa pada kotoran, darah, urin
-Peningkatan titer Widal

Reaksi Widal merupakan test imunitas yang ditimbulkan oleh kuman Salmonella typhi/ paratyphi, yaitu kuman yang terdapat di minuman dan makanan kita yang terkontaminasi dengan tinja orang yang sakit. Dikatakan meningkat bila titernya lebih dari 1/400 atau didapatkan kenaikan titer 2 kali lipat dari titer sebelumnya dalam waktu 1 minggu.

Pada pemeriksaan fisik dapat ditemui bradikardi (denyut melemah) relatif, pembesaran limfa, tegangnya otot perut, dan kembung. Serta, periksakanlah apakah kandung empedu anda tidak mengalami peradangan menahun karena bakteri Tipes dapat menempati kandung empedu.

Gejala

Gejala yang dialami penderita Tipes dapat diuraikan menjadi berikut ini :

- Panas badan yang semakin hari bertambah tinggi, terutama pada sore dan malam hari. Terjadi selama 7-10 hari, kemudian panasnya menjadi konstan dan kontinyu. Umumnya paginya sudah merasa baikan, namun ketika menjelang malam kondisi mulai menurun lagi.

- Pada fase awal timbul gejala lemah, sakit kepala, infeksi tenggorokan, rasa tidak enak di perut, sembelit atau terkadang sulit buang air besar, dan diare.

- Pada keadaan yang berat penderita bertambah sakit dan kesadaran mulai menurun.

Pencegahan

Penyakit Tipes dapat ditularkan melalui makanan dan minuman yang tercemar dengan kuman Tipes , Salmonella typhosa, kotoran, atau air kencing dari penderita Tipes.

Bila anda sering menderita penyakit ini kemungkinan besar makanan atau minuman yang Anda konsumsi tercemar bakterinya. Hindari jajanan di pinggir jalan terlebih dahulu. Atau telur ayam yang dimasak setengah matang pada kulitnya tercemar tinja ayam yang mengandung bakteri Tipes.

Untuk mencegah agar seseorang terhindar dari penyakit ini kini sudah ada Vaksin Tipes atau Tifoid yang disuntikkan atau secara minum obat dan dapat melindungi seseorang dalam waktu 3 tahun. Mintalah Dokter anda memberikan imunisasi tersebut.

Daya tahan tubuh juga harus ditingkatkan seperti gizi yg baik, tidur 7-8 jam/24 jam, olah raga secara teratur 3- 4 kali seminggu selama 1 jam. Bagi orang yang pernah mengalami penyakit Tipes sebaiknya tidak melakukan kegiatan yang sangat melelahkan. Yang perlu diperhatikan pasca terkena Tipes adalah pola makan yang benar. Misalnya harus lunak, ya terapkan makan lunak sampai batas yang telah ditentukan dokter, kemudian makanan yang berminyak, pedas, asam, spicy hindari. Kurangi kegiatan yang terlalu menguras tenaga. Obat harus diminum sampai habis ( 7 – 10 hari ). Bila tidak, maka bakteri Tipes yg ada di dalam tubuh pasien belum mati semua dan kelak akan kambuh kembali.
